DGH ChairMaker - Medium Spokeshave
The DGH ChairMaker Medium Spokesshave is rooted in the tradition of 1800s and early 1900s spokeshaves, carrying forward the simplicity and control those tools were known for. Its slightly curved sole allows you to adjust the depth of cut on the fly by changing how the tool meets the workpiece. It’s an intuitive, tactile way of working that reflects the fluid approach of traditional chairmaking and green woodworking.
Unlike historical designs that relied on tangs tapped with a hammer for blade adjustment, this spokeshave takes a more modern approach. The blade is secured with brass screws set into threaded inserts, making removal and sharpening quick and straightforward while keeping the tool’s profile clean and streamlined.
